Baltimore Finals Event

About our Finals Event

Philanthropy Tank Baltimore hosted its 3rd Annual Virtual Finals Event in June at Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Pikesville. At the Finals Event, our Student Finalists presented their COMMUNITY IMPACT IDEAS to our PHILANTHROPIST MENTORS for a chance to receive funding and mentorship for a year.

Our 2023 Student Groups

Bmore Fresh

Aniya Ponton, Samajh Chestnut, Ryeona Watson & Logan Reynolds

Bmore Fresh is a project focused on bringing fresh, locally sources produce to food deserts around the city, through the renovation of a city bus and partnerships with urban farmers.

Bmore Youth Notes

Koryn Sanders, 11th Grade

Wilde Lake High School

With music programs being limited around the country, Bmore Youth Notes aims to work with students who want to learn to play instruments or enhance the skills they already have through after school and weekend music programming. This program is currently functioning in Howard County.

SparkED

Chiemela Nwokoro, 11th Grade

Eastern Technical High School

There are so many resources and programs that are youth centered but many youth do not have the access or understanding of how to tap into them. SparkED will create a digital platform that allows students to find programs and opportunities that meet their interests and provide experiences they can capitalize on.

The Environauts

Phoebe Taylor, 11th Grade

Roland Park Country School

Teaching young students about their environment and how to sustain it is the mission of The Environauts. Composting, recycling and solar energy and just a few focuses of this after school based program.

Philanthropist Investors and Philanthropist Mentors

Our Philanthropist Investors (PIs) are successful entrepreneurs and real-life philanthropists with a proven track record of supporting community initiatives and organizations.

PIs provide their personal financial resources to support our student-led community impact programs. At the Finals Event, student finalists present their concept to persuade the investors that their community impact ideas are worth their requested funding. Philanthropist Investors will select the projects they want to mentor and fund.

Our PIs sometimes call upon Philanthropist Mentors (PMs). The PMs select the student awardees at the Finals Event and provide direct guidance and feedback to students on behalf of the Philanthropist Investor. Throughout one year, the PIs, PMs, and our CHANGEmakers work together to bring their ideas to fruition.

The relationships between the PMs and the students is a unique and distinguishing feature of Philanthropy Tank Baltimore.
