Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank Hosts Application Prep Workshop as Lead Up to 2017 Competition

Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank today announced a Free Application Prep Workshop for Palm Beach County students, 7th to 12th grade, interested in participating in the 2017 Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank competition. The informational workshop was rescheduled due to Hurricane Matthew and is now taking place Sunday, November 6th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach.

The workshop is a highly recommended first step for students, parents, educators and community advocates considering the 2017 Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank competition. The 2017 Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank, tagged as – powering tomorrow’s change leaders, today, is a competition with greater purpose. Student participants compete, presenting creative solutions to improve social issues impacting the community. They “pitch” their solutions to a panel of notable philanthropist-investors. Winners receive a year of one-to-one mentoring and up to $15,000 in program funding from the awarding philanthropists.  Last year these investors included William Meyer, Julie Fisher Cummings and Danielle H. Moore of Palm Beach, and Eric Becker of Jupiter. This year’s investors will be announced in November.

Workshop attendees receive coaching and instruction on how to properly develop compelling, comprehensive and complete Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank competition applications. They’ll also meet 2016 philanthropist-investor Julie Fisher Cummings and hear from two of the 2016 Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank winners. “Go for Green” and “Equal + Empowered” will share their experiences through the competition and following as funded, mentored leaders. RSVPs for the workshop are encouraged by November 3rd by e-mailing rsvp@philanthropytank.org.
