Philanthropy Tank Partner Highlight: VoLo Foundation
VoLo Foundation has awarded its first Green Award to a Philanthropy Tank student program that best exhibits its commitment to the climate and green initiatives. This year’s recipient is newly launched program, Green Garments, and its founder, Alexander W.Dreyfoos School of the Arts junior, Amelia Williams.
Amelia’s program will inform Palm Beach County students about alternatives to their current clothing purchase and use patterns, which are harmful to the environment, and waste energy and natural resources. The project will raise awareness of eco-friendly alternatives, and focus upon the recycling, reuse, repair, repurposing, and reselling of clothing through an online store and at program events.
“I am extremely excited to be receiving the Green Award and I am eternally grateful to VoLo Foundation as well as Philanthropy Tank for making this all possible. This award will definitely be beneficial to Green Garments and our plans for the future. I cannot wait to begin enacting change in my local community and educating the public about sustainable fashion” says Amelia.
“There is no future without environmental education and Philanthropy Tank is educating youth and helping them create projects that make the world a better place” says VoLo Foundation trustee Thais Lopez Vogel.
